Junior Graphic Designer

Calgary, AB - Part Time, Contract, Remote

Sock Rocket is currently seeking a part-time junior designer to join our busy team. This is a 10-week contract position with the opportunity to come on permanently following the contract. This position is fully remote and is perfect for students, recent graduates, and those seeking qualified part-time work with daytime hours. What you'll do:

  • Work directly under our lead designer and closely with our sales team and ownership group to construct sock designs, website assets, promotional materials, and more
  • Manage and complete a series of design-related tasks on a daily basis at the direction of our lead designer
  • Maintain open communication with the team during working hours
  • Work within our software stack (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Google Drive, Slack) to build and organize files accordingly
  • Follow direction and provide feedback wherever possible to maintain and improve the process
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Crack jokes at every opportunity

Who you'll need:

  • Qualified experience in graphic design with a keen eye for design standards; a formal education is not required but would be an asset
  • Strong understanding of Adobe Suite with an active license
  • Ability to follow direction and build files according to our established standards
  • Ability to organize and work well within a Google Drive
  • Passion for social enterprise, and/or for the idea of influencing meaningful change by way of traditional business
  • Creativity and willingness to experiment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Experience with Slack would be an asset
  • Experience with photography would be an asset
